Position Details:

The University of Iowa Department of Internal Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking an ABIM board-eligible or board-certified Infectious Diseases physician at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor or Professor commensurate with experience. The successful applicant is expected to serve as an Associate Hospital Epidemiologist at University of Iowa Healthcare.



This position is 60 percent administrative with the Program of Hospital Epidemiology. The other component is constituted by 40 percent effort attending on the Infectious Diseases Consult services.  There is no expectation for external funding. The other members of the Program of Hospital Epidemiology include 9 infection preventionists, an industrial hygienist, a hospital epidemiologist, and a halftime pediatric hospital epidemiologist. The opportunities to collaborate in research are ample due to a very strong team as well as other University of Iowa affiliated epidemiologists, several of whom are experienced investigators with externally funded research programs. There are also opportunities to work with trainees at all levels, including medical students, ID/hospital epidemiology fellows and MPH or PhD candidates from the University of Iowa College of Public Health.

This position is part of an integrated interdisciplinary team within the Psychosocial Oncology Program at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. This position reports to the HCCC Psychosocial Director in the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplant. Successful candidates will work collaboratively with oncology providers and psychosocial oncology providers, to deliver office-based individual and group therapy, interventions on a consultative basis, and academic and program-building activities. All clinical activities are carried out within the workday without on-call or after-hour coverage expectations. This position is halftime, with two and half days in clinic. Administrative time is integrated into this halftime position.



Position details:




  • Delivers individual and group psychotherapy for cancer patients and caregivers using well-researched psychological frameworks.

  • Works with interdisciplinary oncology teams through integrated behavioral oncology consultations. These involve psychological and behavioral assessments of cancer patients in distress, brief psychotherapy, and/or short-term psychotherapy.

  • Participates in case consultation meetings and psychosocial oncology program members.

  • Provides learning experiences and/or supervision to graduate and doctoral-level psychology trainees, as assigned.

The Department of Internal Medicine seeks a clinical psychologist to join the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation. This position is full time or part time. The psychologist would provide psychological services to cancer patients in a tertiary-level cancer center in an outpatient setting. The psychologist will work as part of an enthusiastic, supportive, integrated interdisciplinary team within the Psychosocial Oncology Program at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. The University of Iowa, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine is recruiting a BC/BE non-invasive cardiologist to serve as the Imaging Section Head in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. The candidate will be responsible for the strategic growth of the clinical imaging section, which includes Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac MRI and Cardiac CT. The candidate will be expected to work with the Heart and Vascular Center and with the Department of Radiology, with which a highly effective collaboration has existed to grow Advanced Cardiac Imaging Services. Major responsibilities will include faculty, APP and staff recruitment, staff development, coordination of clinical imaging services including overseeing clinical schedules, and overseeing quality of the imaging programs. Direct reports will include the Heads of Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac MRI and Cardiac CT.



The candidate will be expected to develop a strong basic, clinical, and/or outcomes research program related to Cardiovascular Imaging. Resources for recruitment and research support will be available. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to oversee the teaching program at UIHC and its affiliated sites, including both general and advanced imaging fellows.



The candidate will have protected time for administrative functions, and protected time/start-up funding for his/her own research program as appropriate. The candidate will be expected to spend clinical time performing imaging services, based on his/her expertise. In addition, he/she will spend clinical time rounding on inpatient service and in outpatient clinic.
