- One of the most common locations of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma - 30% of cancers of the oral cavity (Copelli et al. 2021)
- Usually detected early - visible location and slow-growing (Copelli et al. 2021)
- Nodal metastasis presents in 3-29% of patients (Copelli et al. 2021)
- Imaging is rarely need for diagnosis or evaluation
- Mainstay of treatment is surgical resection with wide local excision (Copelli et al. 2021)
