Acceptance of Offer

Electronic confirmation of your acceptance of this offer of admission is required within two weeks of admission unless you have been admitted to the MD/PhD program. Admitted applicants must follow the AMCAS "Choose Your Medical School Tool" timeline:
"Plan to Enroll" - opens February 19
"Commit to Enroll" - opens April 30
"Commit to Enroll" final deadline - July 1

Criminal Background Check

The AAMC will conduct the required criminal background check on your behalf. Students admitted from October to December will receive an email from Certiphi Screening, Inc. in early January. All other students will receive an email immediately. For more information about the criminal background check process, please consult the AAMC website.
MyUI (Student Information System)

You will receive a login and password to access MyUI in a few days after you have been offered admission. 

Transcripts

You must send official transcripts to the University of Iowa (UI). If you attended the UI, you do not need to request transcripts from the UI. Have official transcripts sent to:  Enrollment Mangement, University of Iowa, 2900 UCC, 201 S. Clinton Street, Iowa City, Iowa  52242. You may determine the receipt of your official transcripts on MyUI.

Contact Changes

Make sure your voicemail is set up to receive messages. Please keep us informed of any contact information changes on your Secondary Application Portal using the "Contact Update" tab. To change your contact information with the University of Iowa, email gradmail@uiowa.edu.
ICON (Iowa Courses Online) Pre-M1 Communications

ICON can be accessed through MyUI. You will be automatically enrolled. Visit this site often to stay informed as we will post important information.

The “Housing Exchange” message board allows you to post housing needs and respond to medical students’ posts. For more housing options, visit the Alpha Kappa Kappa Medical Society or Phi Rho Signma Medical Society websites.
CCOM Financial Aid Website

Refer to this site for up-to-date financial aid information and to apply for aid.  Priority deadline for consideration of need-based scholarships and grants awarded by the Carver College of Medicine is December 1, 2024. You are encouraged to submit your FAFSA to all schools you are considering as soon as possible after the FAFSA opens in December.  Our FAFSA school code is 001892. For financial aid questions, contact ccom-financialservices@uiowa.edu, as they will be able to best assist you. We request that you refrain from contacting Carver College of Medicine administrative leadership for assistance.
Student Health Screening Forms

The health screening requirements are outlined at the UI Student Health website under the Health Science Students section. Please review this information carefully and comply with these requirements prior to orientation. The Hepatitis B immunization series must be completed before the beginning of your second semester. If you have questions, contact University of Iowa Student Health at 319-335-8370.
Health Insurance

All students are required to maintain health insurance (or an equivalent alternative care plan).  Visit our website for details. You are required to provide proof of health insurance by early September after enrolling or you will be billed for a Student Health Inurance Plan (SHIP) on your October UI bill. If you have questions, contact the University of Iowa Benefits Office at benefits@uiowa.edu or 319-335-2676.
Disability Insurance

Medical Student Individual Disability Insurance is strongly encouraged, though not required.  Information regarding this type of insurance and various options are available on the Secondary Application Portal. 
Laptop Computer Requirement

All students are required to provide their own laptop for computerized exams. Details are available on the ICON Pre-M1 Communications.

Orientation Week

Orientation is Monday, August 11 - Friday, August 15, 2025.  Attendance is required.  The White Coat Ceremony will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025.  Details will be available in July 2025.
