About Ellen Franklin

Ellen FranklinEllen Franklin is the Director of Clinical Skills Assessment for the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa.

Ms. Franklin received a B.S. degree in Mathematics and French from Iowa State University in 1992, an M.A. in Curriculum and Supervision from the University of Iowa in 1997, an M.B.A. from Iowa State University in 2002, and a Masters of Medical Education degree in 2010 as a graduate of the program's inaugural class at the University of Iowa's Carver College of Medicine.

Ms. Franklin worked as a secondary mathematics teacher in the state of Iowa from 1993 - 2001.  While teaching at Ames (Iowa) High School, she obtained National Board Professional Teaching Standards certification. 

In 2002, Ms. Franklin joined the CCOM in the Office of Student Affairs and Curriculum (OSAC) as the first program coordinator for the Performance-Based Assessment (PBA) program.  She became the program director in 2014, and the position was renamed the Integrated Clinical Skills Assessment program, and expanded to include clinical skills teaching and assessment for the longitudinal curriculum.
