The mission of our group is to educate future physicians as well as the community about the importance of diet in health and disease. Part of this mission is achieved through our Nutrition Education Program where we partner with local food pantries to educate patients on how diet modification can help treat chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and counsel them on how to take actionable steps to achieve a balanced, health-promoting diet. In addition, our group aims to have regular meetings to learn more about nutrition, as well as facilitate exciting volunteer opportunities within the community. Through meetings and volunteerism, we hope to enable future physicians to effectively treat diet-modifiable chronic diseases through nutrition counseling while empowering students to create healthy habits themselves.
