Welcome to the Internal Medicine Interest Group!
Internal Medicine physicians, or internists, are doctors for adults. Some internists provide primary care, while others sub-specialize in areas such as cardiology, pulmonology, rheumatology, infectious disease, oncology, nephrology, etc. Some participate in combined programs, for example with pediatrics or with psychiatry. Internists work in outpatient clinics and hospitals, in big cities and small towns. The bottom line is that Internal Medicine offers physicians variety, diversity, and unlimited options for their careers.
The goal of the Internal Medicien Interest Group is to provide medical students with opportunities to learn more about the exciting field of Internal Medicine. This year we look forward to a variety of educational, informative, and service-oriented activities. During our monthly luncheons, we anticipate learning about many topics in Internal Medicine and gaining exposure to the available sub-specialties. Throughout the year we also look forward to serving in the community, offering mentoring opportunities with faculty internists, and attending the annual regional American College of Physicians (ACP) meeting.
IMIG is affiliated with the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine (ACP-ASIM). Joining IMIG gives you the opportunity to join ACP-ASIM, a national organization with many benefits and FREE membership.
Look for us at the Activities Fair. We’ll be offering free membership and treats!
