Cores

Campbell LabCore A is an Administrative Core that coordinates the activities within and outside the Center and promotes an interactive and collaborative research environment. In conjunction with Project 2, Core A also educates and engages patients and patient advocates by hosting an annual conference and tours of MDSRC laboratories.  

Core B is a Muscle Tissue/Cell Culture/Diagnostics Core that serves as a national tissue and cell culture resource for research. Together with the Department of Pathology, Core B provides state-of-the-art diagnostic testing for patients seen at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and nationwide. This infrastructure provides key support for Projects 1 and 2 and for clinical trials of neuromuscular disease, especially Duchenne muscular dystrophy. 

Core C is a Research Training Core, that provides research training and carries out the education missions in the MDSRC. In particular, Core C supports year-long fellowships for medical students, postdoctoral trainees, post-baccalaureate students, and undergraduate students and fosters a vibrant training environment that emphasizes collaboration between basic, translational and clinical researchers.
