Guidelines for Adjunct Clinical (Non-Salaried) Faculty Promotions
A Regional Medical Education Center (RMEC), individual adjunct faculty member, or department may initiate the promotion process.
Promotion application materials are submitted directly to OSCEP for administrative screening.
The process for applying for an adjunct faculty promotion is:
- Notify OSCEP of intent to apply for promotion. OSCEP notifies appropriate department.
- Submit required promotion application material to OSCEP, which must include:
- Updated CV demonstrating increased teaching effort, scholarship, and leadership
- Minimum of three letters of support documenting these efforts
- Teaching evaluations from the last three years (ideally starting from your appointment at your current rank)
- Personal statement (1-2 page) of candidate’s teaching responsibilities, style, and philosophy
- Examples of any publications or other evidence of professional productivity, if available
- If applying to Professor rank, include demonstration of leadership of area in expertise.
- OSCEP reviews each application to ensure it contains all the required documents.
- OSCEP forwards each promotion application to the appropriate department by September 1, (unless Department sets an earlier close date).
- Action completed in Carver College of Medicine (November).
- Action completed by Board of Regents (May).
