Adjunct faculty and residents of an affiliated residency program are able to access University of Iowa online resources.  You will be assigned a Hawk ID which will allow you to access online library resources, download software (such as Microsoft Office), and register for CME events.

Setting up your Hawk ID

To set up your Hawk ID password please contact ITS Help Desk on 319-384-4357, and a staff member will assist you. Have your Hawk ID, University ID Number and date of birth ready when you call. If you do not know your Hawk ID or University ID number, please contact Darin Ritchie.

Setting Up Your University Email

Adjunct faculty and residents of an affiliated residency program are automatically assigned an email address (also known as an alias), which is linked to your HawkID. The alias address is typically your first and last names, separated by a hyphen, and followed by "@uiowa.edu". However, a routing email account (or inbox) is not automatically set up.
If an email account has been set up for you, you can use your HawkID to login at: https://office365.uiowa.edu
Once logged in click on the Microsoft Outlook Icon to view your inbox.
If the Outlook icon does not appear, an account has not been created. To receive emails you must either:

  1. Request an account be created, or
  2. Redirect email to another account, such as your institutional or personal email address

Requesting Account Creation

Adjunct Faculty: Go to Request Office 365 Account and complete the online form. You will need your HawkID and email alias (contact Darin Ritchie if you do not know it).

Residents: Go to MyUI to request a university email account. (MyUI > Student Information > Email Tools)

Redirecting Email to Another Account / Address

WARNING: If you have an existing University Office 365 account, and you choose to change your routing address, your Office 365 account will be closed immediately.

Adjunct Faculty:

  1. Go to HRIS
  2. Click the Personal tab and click on Email Routing
  3. In the "Route To:" field, select Other E-Mail Provider (e.g., Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) and type the address of your email account
  4. Click Update Email Routing Address to save changes

Residents:

  1. Go to MyUI
  2. Click Email Tools and select Update Email Routing / Forwarding Address
  3. In the "Route To:" field, select Other E-Mail Provider (e.g., Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) and type the address of your email account
  4. ​Click Update Email Routing Address to save changes.

Accessing the Hardin Library

Primary Method:

  1. Go to the Hardin home page
  2. Click on any database on the left side of the page
  3. You will be directed to a page that states "Campus Access - Please Login to Proxy Server"
  4. Enter your Hawk ID and Password on the top right hand corner of the page and hit enter.

Alternatively:

  1. Go to: https://proxy.lib.uiowa.edu/login
  2. Enter your Hawk ID and Password and hit continue
  3. You will then see a page that states “Off-Campus Access Login Successful”
  4. Click on the “Campus Libraries & Hours” tab
  5. Select “Health Sciences Library”
  6. You will be directed to the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences home page
