Visiting Professor Program

In June 2020, The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine completed its forty-seventh year of visiting professor activities. The Visiting Professor Program is an important source of educational support in the community-based settings where family medicine residents, medical students, physician assistant students, and clinical pharmacy students train.

As visiting teachers, College of Medicine faculty present teaching conferences and participate in other educational activities at community-based residency programs. Faculty visits serve two purposes. They contribute to the basic training of family medicine residents and health professions students, and they provide a source of continuing medical education for the faculty and other physicians in the geographic regions where the residency programs are located.

Activities Summary

A summary of visiting professor activities for 2019-2020 is shown below.  Fifty-nine (59) individuals from 13 different College of Medicine departments made teaching visits.  Instruction occurred at the seven UI affiliated family medicine residency programs
