IL 09-13-2018 Physician Assistant Supervisor

Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Physician Assistant Supervisor for our Department of Surgery located at Highland Park Hospital in Highland Park, IL.

  • This is a full-time (40 hrs/wk) position and is benefits eligible.
  • Hours will be scheduled as 10 hour shifts - 4 days a week rotating between 7:00am - 5:00pm, 9:00am - 7:00pm, and 10:00am - 8:00pm.
  • On call required - primary call 1 in every 4 weekends and also back up call 1 in every 4 weekends.
  • Occasionally may need to travel to other NorthShore hospitals.

Responsibilities: In this role, you will...

  • Provide comprehensive health care services under the direction and supervision of an assigned physician.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment to patients specific to their area of expertise.
  • Help Lead a dynamic Surgical Service Covering General Surgery as well as other surgical sub-specialties.
  • Help Manage the daily operations of a PA team of 13 and a resource team of 5.
  • These duties will include:
    • OR and floor operations/assignments.
    • Onboarding, training and evaluations.
    • Scheduling and call coverage.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Current Physician Assistant license in the state of IL required.
  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Graduate of an ARC-PA Accredited Program.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant (General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, or Critical Care).
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior Supervisory experience.
  • IL controlled substance and DEA license required.

  • Clinic Work = 40% Hospital/Surgery Center Work = 60%.
  • Call Rotation = 1:16.
  • Estimated Office patients per day = 16-25.
  • Estimated operative procedures per day = 5.

Job Requirements:

  • Required Education:
    • PA Certified or Board eligible.
  • Required License or Certification:
    • Current SD, IA License.
    • Successful completion of CNOS credentialing process prior to practice.
