IL 04-08-2022 Physician Assistant

A multi-specialty orthopedic practice with 6 surgeons, 2 non-operative musculoskeletal physicians, and 6 advanced practice providers is actively recruiting a full-time physician assistant to join our busy joint replacement team.  The practice is located in family-friendly, safe, and affordable Aurora, IL, with only a 15-minute drive to nearby Naperville and a 45-minute drive to downtown Chicago and O’Hare Airport.

Physician Assistant responsibilities will include working one-on-one in the clinic and operating room with an experienced, fellowship-trained hip and knee replacement surgeon.  

Surgeries will occur at a 220-bed hospital, two days per week, 2 to 5 surgeries per day.  Primary OR/Hospital responsibilities include:

  • Patient positioning, prepping, and draping
  • First-assisting with hip and knee replacement surgeries
  • Performing surgical closure of the joint cavity and skin
  • Writing post-operative orders 
  • Performing post-operative patient care

Clinic will be held two days per week.  The Physician Assistant is expected to independently see 12 to 20 patients per day.  The collaborating physician will be present on-site and available to answer any questions.  Primary Physician Assistant responsibilities in clinic include:

  • Evaluating new patient suitability for hip and knee replacement surgery
  • Performing post-op hip and knee replacement follow up visits
  • Ordering and interpreting hip and knee X-rays and other diagnostic tests
  • Prescribing medication
  • Performing hip and knee aspirations/injections

The Physician Assistant will take call approximately one night in ten with the collaborating surgeon.  Call responsibilities include taking phone calls from patients and the floor.  Rarely, the Physician Assistant will assist the collaborating surgeon with after-hours orthopedic emergency surgeries.

This opportunity provides a market-based, negotiable, competitive salary as well as an excellent work-life balance, and the ability to work at the top of the physician assistant license.  For applicants without prior orthopedic or OR experience, a 6-month orientation period will be provided before practitioner autonomy is expected.

The UW Health Regional Cancer Center is looking for an Advance Practice Provider to join the Radiation Oncology team. The Advance Practice Provider is responsible for providing comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in an outpatient setting, working collaboratively with our team of Radiation Oncologists, PA and APRN. He/she demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses, he/she will also provide care and educate patients and their families on wellness care and treatment plans for health disorders, and intervenes in acute episodes. He/she is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs.

Professional Duties

  • Full-time practice supporting hard working Radiation Oncologists
  • Provide care and educate families on wellness and treatment plans
  • Clinic patient schedule of Monday-Friday 8am – 5pm
