The PBI wishes to encourage exploration of new areas and novel ideas and/or approaches. Microfinance Grants of $5,000 or less are available for discrete, new objectives. Microfinance grants do not support ongoing projects. Examples of fundable grants include:
- Travel to another lab to learn a new technique
- Use of University of Iowa cores
Any member of a PBI lab is eligible to apply by submitting a one-page or less description of the project that clearly outlines the new direction the grant supports. Attach a biosketch for each participant in the project.
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed and awarded monthly. Awardees will be expected to present the results to PBI members.
