Mini-Symposia Talks

3:45-4:45 p.m.
Academics Room and MGC Room (IMU)

Mini-Symposia will be divided into two rooms, the Academics Room (256 IMU) and MGC Room, (337 IMU).  Up to 8 trainees (postdocs and grad students) from the Carver College of Medicine will be selected to present a "small talk" of 10 minutes either in addition to, or in place of, a poster.  Interested trainees can be nominated by a mentor, program director, PI or department chair by email to Sonya Housholder or they may self-nominate by indicating on the submission form that he/she is interested in presenting a talk.  A committee will review the nominations after the submission deadline.  Trainees selected to give a talk will receive a $200 award.

Please note: abstracts for the presentations will be published in paper and online. There will be an opportunity to revise abstracts before they are published. Additionally, presenters will be required to submit their presentations in advance by Wednesday, March 11th to Sonya Housholder in order that they may be pre-loaded onto the computers. It is advised that a back-up copy of the presentations be brought with the presenter to the event in case of technology issues.

Registration is open through Monday, February 24th at 5:00 p.m.  We will not accept late registrations for talks.

Are you a postdoctoral fellow/scholar or faculty member interested in being a discussion leader during one of the Mini-Symposia sessions?  Sign up at this link to be a discussion leader and receive a $100 award.

Poster Session

4:00-6:00 p.m. (check-in starts at 2:00 p.m.)
IMU Main Lounge

Posters will not be judged this year. The poster session will be located in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union (IMU). Posters should be up by 3:45 p.m. and are asked to be posted until 6:00 p.m.  Poster numbers will be emailed to presenters by Wednesday, March 4th.

Board Specifications: Poster boards have a display area of approximately 4'x6' and will be magnetic.  Magnets will be provided by event staff.  Presenters are reminded that, in order to preserve the condition of display boards for future use, adhesive is not permitted to tack posters to the boards.  Please make every attempt to use lighter-weight paper, which is held up better with magnets than heavy-weight paper.

Abstracts should not exceed 350 words. Registration will be open through Monday, February 24th. Individuals wishing to register late must submit a request to the CCOM Research Office no later than Friday, February 28th.

The registration deadline for abstracts (poster and presentations) is Monday, February 24th at 5:00 pm.

ORCiD Table

CCOM trainees who enroll in ORCiD and link their accounts to the University of Iowa will receive a Java House gift card.
