A few details about Dr. Frank:

  • She created a Scientific Editing Service at the Wash U Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2012, after earning a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and doing post-doctoral work in the Wash U Biology Department.
  • Since 2011, she has run summer writing programs for the Amgen Scholars Program and the BP-ENDURE Neuroscience Pipeline for undergraduates.
  • She has presented lectures, including “Thinking Like a Reviewer” and “Scientific Writing Tips” internationally (including in Ghana).
  • She has published an article on manuscript writing in Current Protocols.
  • She is co-founder of a national group of editors known as the Scientific Editors Network (ScENe), for which she initiated and runs monthly conference calls during which strategies and advice for editing/writing various types of scientific documents are shared.
  • She advises the Wash U group InPrint – A Scientific Editing Network, a trainee-run scientific editing network and resource that provides free, confidential editing of scientific communications to the Washington University community.
