Chan awarded Central Surgical Foundation Turcotte Grant

Chan Receives Turcotte AwardCarlos Chan, MD, PhD, University of Iowa assistant professor of Surgery, was awarded the Turcotte Award from the Central Surgical Association Foundation (CSAF) for his proposal “Effect of Biliary Bacterial Contamination in Peritoneal Metastasis of Peri-Ampullary Cancers”. The award was presented March 16, 2018, during the CSA annual meeting. The Turcotte award is an annual award of a $20,000 grant to support surgical scholarship and research and advance the science of surgery. In the photo, Dr. Chan (on right) is seen receiving the award from Dr. Nat Soper, CSA Foundation President. Dr. Chan is an assistant professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery in the Department of Surgery. He received both his MD and PhD from McGill University, and joined the UIHC in November, 2015.
