Dr. Barbara Latenser, former director of the UI Hospitals and Clinics Burn Unit, passed away June 15, 2015 after a two and a half year battle with brain cancer.

Dr. Latenser was a valued member of the Department of Surgery for years and contributed not just to the institution's mission, but to burn education and prevention on an international level.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 320 E. College Street, Iowa City, with a reception to follow.
