February 18, 2022

Dear Professor Andersen

It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been selected by the Council on Teaching to receive the 2022 President and Provost Award for Teaching Excellence. Many passionate, dedicated, and accomplished faculty members from around the university are nominated for this prestigious and highly competitive award each year. Your nomination materials and supporting letters from faculty and students stood out in an exceptionally strong group of nominees. This award is a testament to your dedication to your students, your high standards as an instructor, and your success in enhancing the quality of educational programs at the University of Iowa. The Council on Teaching is honored to recognize you as an example of the high educational standards that faculty at this institution strive to achieve in all their teaching endeavors.

This award carries a stipend of $3,000, subject to state and federal deductions, which will be included in your April 2022 paycheck. You will be invited to formally receive your award next fall at the University Faculty and Staff Awards Ceremony.

Please accept my enthusiastic congratulations on behalf of the Council on Teaching, as well as the respect of the entire university community, for your many educational accomplishments and teaching excellence.
