Graduate student, Yan Yan, successfully passed her comprehensive examination on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. The title of her proposal was "The Function of Six2 in Palatogenesis". Yan received her B.S. from Shanghai Normal University and her M.S. from East China Normal University, both in Shanghai China. She began studies in the Cell and Developmental Biology Graduate Program in 2015 under the mentorship of Dr. Brad Amendt. Her research focuses on the mechanism of Six2 regulating palatal development. Graduate student, Mason Sweat, successfully passed his comprehensive examination on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. The title of his proposal was "The role of the miR-200 family in odontogenesis". Mason received his B.S. from the University of Iowa, with a Major in Biology and Minor in Chemistry. He began studies in the Cell and Developmental Biology Graduate Program in 2015 under the mentorship of Dr. Brad Amendt. His research focuses on how the microRNA 200 family regulates stem cell proliferation and differentiation during tooth development. Congratulations Mason!
