The University of Iowa Department of Anesthesia is seeking an accomplished academic anesthesiologist with interest and expertise in several important clinical areas to join our team.  

The Staff Anesthesiologist position is awarded to an anesthesiologist with interest and expertise in various clinical areas. These areas include:

  • Generalist Anesthesiologist
  • Cardiovascular/Thoracic Anesthesiologist 
  • Obstetrical Anesthesiologist 
  • Neurosurgical Anesthesiologist 
  • Pediatric Anesthesiologist 
  • Regional and Acute Pain Medicine
  • Transplant Anesthesiologist 

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Candidates will have completed an approved residency training program in Anesthesiology 
  • Candidates must have MD, DO, MBBS or equivalent
  • Candidates must be eligible for licensure in the state of Iowa
  • Candidates must be certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologists or the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology or be in the certification process
  • Internationally-trained physicians who hold an equivalent certification may be considered for appointment
