The clinical mission of the Department of Anesthesia is to deliver anesthetic, analgesic, and intensive care services to University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics patients in a safe and efficient manner. To accomplish this clinical mission, the department partners with peer departments and collaborates with hospital support services. The Department of Anesthesia plays a crucial role in the provision of elective and emergency surgical services by providing leadership to clinical operations.
