Dr. Carlisle is an Affiliate Faculty member in the Program in Bioethics and Humanities and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. She received her M.D. from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. Carlisle completed Residency in General Surgery and Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Chicago. She completed a Fellowship in Clinical Medical Ethics at the University of Chicago MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics. Dr. Carlisle practices Pediatric Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, serves as a consultant on the Hospital's Ethics Consult Service, and Co-Chairs the UIHC Ethics Working Group. She is on the Admissions Committee of the Humanities Distinction Track at the College of Medicine and is a facilitator of the Critical Care Fourth Year Professionalism Seminar. Dr. Carlisle's research interests include shared decision making and patient autonomy in complex surgical decision making. |
