Abboud brings recent cardiovascular center honors

Joseph Hill, current editor-in-chief of the American Heart Association's publication Circulation, has selected Dr. François M. Abboud to serve as senior advisory editor of the publication.

Dr. Abboud has also been selected as a Fellow in the American Physiological Association Inaugural Class of APS Fellows (FAPS). “Fellowship is given to those individuals who have contributed significantly to the Society and to the discipline. Election to APS Fellow status not only acknowledges noteworthy scientific and professional accomplishments, but also outstanding leadership and service to the Society. The designation of Fellow is honorific and shall remain valid for the duration of ASP membership.” Others selected from the University of Iowa include Kevin Campbell, Kevin Kregel, Curt Sigmund, William Talman, and Michael Welsh.  

Dr. Abboud has been selected to receive the Medal of Merit for the Year 2015 from the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences (IACS). This Award, given “for his Distinguished Achievements in Cardiovascular Sciences”, will be presented by Dr. Roberto Bolli at the American Heart Association Meeting in November 2015. Along with this Medal Dr. Abboud has been appointed as a Fellow in the IACS.
