Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Courses

The Center for Procedural Skills & Simulation (CPSS) coordinates ATLS courses at UIHC. Below you will find course information and CPSS directions.

ATLS Course Types/Costs/Time Commitment:

ATLS Hybrid Course:
- For new providers or those who have an expired ATLS certification.
- Registration Fee: $900
- Course Length: 1.5 days

ATLS Refresher Course:
- For providers with current ATLS certifications.
- Registration Fee: $500
-Course Length: Half day (12:30PM to 5PM)

ATLS Instructor Course:
- For providers wanting to teach ATLS courses.
- Registration Fee: $900
- Course Length: 1 Day
 

2024 Course Dates:
DO NOT USE the General payment option on our storefront to pay for an ATLS course you do not see. Chances are the course is already booked. 

February 13th & 14th – Provider Course (1.5 days)
March 19th - Refresher Course (Half Day)
May 14th & 15th – Provider Course (1.5 Days)
June 11th – Refresher Course (Half Day)


Additional Dates will be released for 2024 as confirmed, most likely for the second half of the year

CPSS Location:

CPSS is located within UIHC and follows all visitor guidelines set by UIHC.

Parking: Please, park in Hospital Parking Ramp 2. This is the underground parking ramp closest to UIHC’s main entrance.

- You may also enter ‘UIHC Parking Ramp 2’ as a destination in a map search to provide specific directions from your starting location.

Directions: Upon entering UIHC proceed to the main hospital hallway and go to the Lower Level (LL). On Lower Level go through the set of double doors between Elevators H & I labeled with signage for CPSS and ATLS. Proceed down the hallway to the stairs/Elevator J4. Go down to Lower Level 2 (LL2) and continue following signage to CPSS/ATLS.
 

COURSE REGISTRATION NOTICES:

Please read the below information prior to registering and making payment. As space availability is limited per course, CPSS has the following registration policies.

- Course registrations are nonrefundable, unless CPSS must cancel a course due to weather or instructor availability.

- Registrations may be moved to a different course date with a 30-day notice. This allows time to find another participant to register and review course materials.

- Because of supply chain issues, physical copies of the course material may not be available. All ATLS study materials are online in the ATLS.org course website. You may contact CPSS (Iowa-simulation@uiowa.edu) and, if available, ATLS books can be sent for a fee of $30, which includes the ATLS book and priority mail shipping.

Note: Due to the prerequisites for the ATLS instructor course, please contact CPSS to determine eligibility.

Step 2:
Make sure when making your payment you are selecting the correct course and/or date of the course as multiple courses are listed.

-Once registration and payment are completed, CPSS will add you to the ATLS.org course website. You will receive an email from ATLS.org with login information and access to electronic study materials.
