The University of Iowa Department of Emergency Medicine Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship is an EUFAC-accredited one year training program. The program is approved to accept one fellow per year. Fellowship graduates will be board eligible for the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography (AEMUS) focused designation of practice.
The fellow will join a diversely educated and well-established faculty group providing emergency care in the emergency department of Iowa’s only tertiary care medical center. The fellow will work closely with a team of two emergency ultrasound fellowship trained faculty. In addition to mastery of advanced ultrasonography skills the curriculum will provide the fellow with expertise in education, research, and ultrasound program administration. The ultrasound program is well established in the education of EM residents, medical students, and multidisciplinary specialties across the hospital. We have a tremendous resource in our EM research division fostering productive research projects. Our emergency ultrasound program takes pride in demonstrating the best practices of point of care ultrasound.
