Medical Student Summer Research Program

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Iowa supports undergraduate students, medical students, residents, and fellows who participate in clinical and translational research. Each summer, students with different interests join research teams in the Department of Emergency Medicine and work with mentors to complete research projects.

Students conduct research through a 12-week didactic program that includes sessions on research ethics, methodologies, and data analysis. At the end of the summer session, students present their work to the Emergency Medicine Research Team as a whole, where they receive feedback on their projects. Additionally, students present their work at the University of Iowa Medical Student Research Day, as well as at regional and national conferences in their area of research.
