Medical Student Summer Research Program

The University of Iowa Department of Emergency Medicine supports medical students, undergraduate students, residents, and fellows in participating in clinical and translational research. Each summer, students from throughout the university join research teams to work with principal investigators from throughout the department.

Students conducting research participate in a 12-week didactic program that includes sessions on research ethics, data analysis, writing for publication, and presentation skills.  In addition, works-in-progress sessions give students the opportunity to work with other students to collaborate and refine their own research ideas.

Students present their work annually at the University of Iowa Medical Student Research Day and at regional and national conferences in their area of research.
