Eye clinic adds new specialists

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is pleased to announce the addition of two new faculty members to the eye care team.

Nathaniel Sears, MD

Dr. Nathaniel Sears joins the Glaucoma Service where he specializes in glaucoma surgery and procedures including trabeculectomy, tube shunts, endocyclophotocoagulation, and minimally invasive surgeries. He also performs complex cataract and anterior segment surgery. Sears received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland and completed residency training at the Cole Eye Institute, Cleveland Clinic before pursuing a Glaucoma Fellowship at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute.

Audrey Ko, MDAlso new is Dr. Audrey Ko who joins the Oculoplastics and Reconstructive Surgery Service.  Ko received her medical degree at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. She completed residency training at the University of Miami Health System Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and an Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at UC San Diego Shiley Eye Institute. Ko specializes in orbital and oculoplastic surgery, ocular oncology, Thyroid eye disease, and cosmetic eye procedures.

Both physicians treat patients at the main hospital eye clinic and the UI Health Care – Iowa River Landing eye clinic.
