We are pleased to announce that Dr. Emily Welder has accepted the role of medical director for IRL-East Family Medicine, effective immediately.  Dr. Welder replaces Dr. Nick Butler who served in this role for a number of years before recently being named the University of Iowa Health Care Population Health Medical Director.

Dr. Welder completed her medical school and residency training at the University of Iowa and joined faculty in 2019.  She began and continues her practice at IRL-East, where in addition to providing ambulatory clinical care, she provides inpatient obstetric/newborn care.  Dr. Welder is also the Associate Director of Medical Student Education, the Clerkship Director for Preceptorship in Family Medicine, and the Assistant Clerkship Director for Family and Community Medicine.
