PA Residency Program

Program Overview:

The Family Medicine Physician Assistant Residency is a non-accredited 12-month postgraduate training program associated with the University of Iowa Family Medicine Residency and the University of Iowa Family Medicine-Psychiatry Residency. The program is designed to provide highly qualified graduates of accredited PA training programs with intense training in specialized areas of Family Medicine. As a Family Medicine Physician Assistant Resident, you will work alongside seasoned clinicians who are MDs, PAs and physician residents at one of the top medical centers in the country.

The Family Medicine PA Residency Program has been an experience that I will appreciate forever.
The residency program allowed me to stretch out of my comfort zone and take care of patients of all ages and backgrounds.
I was given the opportunity to become well versed in many aspects of medicine including taking care of hospitalized patients,
learning specific ultrasound techniques, working in the psychiatry clinic, and removing skin lesions in the family medicine procedure clinic.
Throughout my time at UIHC, I not only grew as a clinician, but also as a person.
