Genetic Counselor and Associate Genetic Counselor 

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated Genetic Counselors to join their team. Genetic Counselors work independently as well as collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary team as their expertise provides unique perspectives to our teams. Counselors will provide genetic counseling to patients and families at the University of Iowa Health Care within the departments of: 

• Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center 
• Internal Medicine
• Neurology
• Obstetrics and Gynecology 
• Pediatrics 

Candidates with board certification or eligibility in genetic counseling from the American Board of genetic counseling, with 1-3 experience in the field of genetic counseling is required should apply to requisition #68226.  Candidates who are board certified and has genetic counseling graduate program clinical rotations or internship experience or 6 months to 1 year experience in the field of genetic counseling should apply to requisition #68225.

Genetics Cluster Initiative 

The University of Iowa has a distinguished record of clinical care and research in genetics beginning in the 1970s, but there are compelling needs to have a new generation of faculty to keep pace in teaching and research with rapid changes in technologies, computational approaches to genetics and the ethical, legal and social issues created by the role of genetics in insurance, forensics, patenting and behavior.

The Genetics Initiative will add ten new faculty members to address the current needs of genetic research and translational science as well as anticipating future growth in these areas.

Informatics Initiative

The Informatics Initiative was announced in Fall 2013 with a goal of developing a comprehensive and cohesive action plan that strengthens informatics education, training, research and collaborative support at the University of Iowa across the diversity of campus activities and needs.

The Aging Mind and Brain

The University of Iowa's Aging Mind and Brain Initiative aims to bring the full force of experts in both the sciences and humanities to solve the specifically cognitive problems involved with growing older, and allow us not merely to survive as we enter old age, but to flourish throughout it.

The Obesity Initiative was established at the University of Iowa in 2011 as a means to coalesce existing faculty around the problems of obesity and to recruit ten new faculty members, who will bring new analytical tools toward solutions.
