Research in the 21st Century has transformed to become a big-data driven enterprise requiring high-performance computational resources and sophisticated data analysis expertise. The IIHG Bioinformatics Division's mission is to provide specialized research collaboration in computational biology to the University of Iowa community, either as grant-supported or fee-for-service work. We centralize knowledge and expertise in applied bioinformatics into a single point of access in the Carver College of Medicine. We are available for consultation and custom projects.
Our mission:
1) Perform applied bioinformatics, in collaboration with UI researchers, with the aim of accelerating research discoveries and unlocking the tremendous value of biological big data
2) Focus on developing and maintaining robust and validated best-practices pipelines and tools; stay on the cutting-edge of emerging methods.
3) Organize and provide educational opportunities to the UI community, including workshops and invited talks in computational biology
Our value to you:
1) We can provide free consultation on experiment design to save you money and optimize your chances for success with NGS studies
2) Dedicated, large-scale computing and data-storage infrastructure to accelerate your projects
3) Available for custom projects and analyses beyond the "routine"
4) Fast turn-around times for routine analyses like RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and ChIP-seq
5) Highly subsidized cost structure and access to proprietary tools like IPA and iPathwayGuide
