Careers in Bioinformatics

The Iowa Institute of Human Genetics (IIHG) is hosting a Careers in Bioinformatics Information Event to expose students to career opportunities that are being created by personalized genomic medicine in bioinformatics and the management of big data.  You can learn first-hand about the diversity of career options and job growth in bioinformatics that is occurring with the advent of personalized genomic medicine.  Listen to a panel with expertise in bioinformatics, software development, systems administration, clinical informatics, and industry and their role in the field of personalized genomic medicine.  Talk with the panelists afterwards to get answers to your questions about these diverse and exciting fields.

Who should attend?

Undergraduate students, academic advisors and graduate students wishing to learn more about careers in bioinformatics. Enrollment is limited to 50 participants.   

When is this session offered?

IIHG will be holding this information session on February 26, 2018 at 5:30 to 7:30pm at the University Capitol Centre’s second floor Conference Center.  City parking is available in the Old Capitol Mall Parking Ramp.

What is schedule of this event?

  • 10 minutes       What is Personalized Genomic Medicine?
  • 50 minutes       Panel Discussion
  • 60 minutes       Breakout session – Students can rotate through and speak with individual panelists about their career in more detail and have an opportunity to ask the panelists additional questions.
