NextGen Sequencing Interest Group

The Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Interest Group meeting usually occur every 3rd Tuesday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm at Seebohm Conference Room (283 EMRB). The NGS Interest Group Meeting is open to everyone. Investigators that are currently performing or are planning to start studies using the Next Gen Sequencing platforms are encouraged to attend. Please contact Kevin Knudtson, PhD ( if you have questions about the NGS Interest Group.

Upcoming Meetings

  • Date: Tuesday, February 18, 2020
  • Time: 3:00-4:00pm
  • Location: Seebohm Conference Room (283 EMRB)
  • Speaker: Priya Issurree, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious diseases
  • Talk Title: ATAC-Seq: a first glimpse into chromatin states
  • Summary: Chromatin accessibility is an essential component of gene regulation of biological processes in specific cells. Assay for Transposase Accessible Chromatin with high-throughput sequencing (ATAC-seq) is an effective way to probe for chromatin accessibility at a genome-wide level and has become a powerful tool to understand dynamic gene expression regulation. In this talk, I will summarize both principle and features of ATAC-seq, and highlight its applications in basic and clinical research
