Fernandes et al (2013) identify the paired masticator spaces as "supra-hyoid cervical spaces on each side of the face that extend from the angle of the mandible to the parietal calvarium". Included in the masticator space are the muscles of mastication, the posterior mandible, and mandibular nerve.
