Our work focuses on understanding how endocrine signals facilitate communication between endocrine organs and the brain to influence animal physiology and behavior. Additionally, we are interested in how the brain integrates sensory and interoceptive information to influence the function of endocrine organs and maintain physiologic homeostasis. To do so we use mouse models which allow us to identify and target specific circuits which contribute to the maintenance of physiologic homeostasis. The goal of this work is to improve our understanding of metabolic dysfunction and provide new therapeutic approaches to treat metabolic disease.
