Uncovering mechanisms of HCN1 regulation
Hyperpolarization activated cyclic nucleotide-gated channel 1 (HCN1) is a sodium/potassium channel expressed throughout the brain. HCN1 functions in regulating excitability in brain neurons and acts to temporally limit the duration of light activated signaling in rod and cone photoreceptors. My research focuses on investigating the mechanisms, both in terms of channel biogenesis and degradation, that control the concentration of HCN1 at the plasma membrane.
