The American Medical Association is the largest physician organization in the United States. The AMA advocates for physicians, and powerfully affects healthcare policy. The medical student section is the largest subsection, with over 50,000 members. Our chapter works with other student chapters to influence AMA policy that is for the good of the students and patients - such as increasing GME spots, and having policy to address burnout for students, residents and physicians. The Iowa Medical Society is the organized medicine group for Iowa, and addresses physician concerns at a state level. Our chapter works with IMS to help advocate for student issues.
