Exciting news! Two esteemed faculty members, Dr. Jon Houtman, PhD, and Dr. Stanley Perlman, MD, PhD, have received new funding awards. 

PI: Stanley Perlman, MD, PhD – NIH/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
Title: Spatial-Temporal Dissection of Stratified Host Tissue Responses to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Related Coronaviruses in Situ to Understand Intra-host Pathogenesis

PI: Jon Houtman, PhD – Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust – Equipment Grant
Title: State-of-the-art Multicolor Cellscape Imaging System 

PI: Jon Houtman, PhD – Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center – Oberley Seed Grant Program
Title: Development of Panels for Assessment of Immune Cell Infiltration of Human and Mouse Tumors using the State-of-the-Art Multicolor Cellscape Imaging System by Canopy Biosciences
Dr. Houtman received the award from The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and its National Cancer Institute Award P30CA08682. The goal of this seed grant is to develop novel panels that will assess immune infiltration of both human and mouse tumors. These panels will be used in the future by the Human Immunology Core and HCCC members to perform multiplex imaging experiments on human and mouse tissue samples to advance our understanding of cancer initiation and progression. This work will take place in collaboration with Drs. Adam Mailloux, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Zeb Zacharias, Faculty Director for the Human Immunology Core, Michael Wendt, Department of Internal Medicine, and Michael O’Rorke, Department of Epidemiology.
