The ASM Student Chapter at the University of Iowa is a trainee-led organization that connects Microbiology and Immunology undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral trainees through professional and social activities to enhance the trainee experience. They host meetings, seminars, and workshops to discuss career development, encourage trainees to attend local and national ASM events, and organize social events like the Microbiology Kickball Game and Clay Microbes Craft (June 1st photos). The chapter aims to foster a supportive community and broaden trainee networks.

Trainees are encouraged to attend the local ASM Branch Meeting and the national ASM Microbe Conference, which offer valuable networking and learning opportunities. The chapter also collaborates with the ASM Student Chapter at Iowa State University to organize joint events, faclitating broader connections and expanding trainee networks.

Under the guidance of their dedicated faculty advisor, Dr. Mary Weber, the ASM Student Chapter at the University of Iowa continues to empower Microbiology and Immunology trainees, providing them with valuable experiences and resources to thrive in their respective fields.
