What's so special about the "Graduate Information Fair"?

The Graduate Information Fair on Saturday is attended by faculty and students from MSTP-affiliated graduate programs. Applicants have the opportunity to ask questions of the representatives of the graduate training programs. Many department heads personally attend the Graduate Information Fair to meet Iowa MSTP applicants. Past applicants have indicated that this is an effective method for them to learn about research opportunities and structures of the graduate programs at Iowa.

Information about the separate Carver College of Medicine Interview:

from the CCOM site:

What happens during the Carver College of Medicine interview?

Your interview will be conducted by two College of Medicine faculty members who will meet together with you for approximately 25 minutes.

What is the interview like?

While faculty are free to ask any questions during the 25 minute interview, the Admissions Committee has requested that faculty consider the following issues in a structured format: your interest in a medical career, personal characteristics that will help you in your career, how you deal with difficult situations, and your ability to show compassion for others. An unstructured, less formal time follows the structured portion. Your interviewers will not have seen your application, academic record, or MCAT scores.
