2014 National Eating Disorder Awareness Week

The countrywide observance of National Eating Disorder Awareness Week is February 23 through March 1.  The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA)’s theme this year is: “I had no idea that eating disorders can destroy lives. Get in the know.” For more information, please go to:  http://nedawareness.org/ .

In Iowa, the Eating Disorder Coalition of Iowa (EDCI) is planning activities from February 20 through 28 in Des Moines and Ames. The group’s headline speaker this year is Ralph Carson, LD, RD, PhD, a binge eating clinical specialist from Nashville, TN. Dr. Carson has been involved in clinical treatment of obesity, addictions and eating disorders for more than 35 years. For more on Dr. Carson, his presentations, and the activities planned by EDCI to expand awareness of eating disorders, please see:  http://www.edciowa.com/#!2014-edci/c1r7t .
