Dr. Kamal Rahmouni awarded the AHA Hypertension Mid-Career Award for Research Excellence

Dr. Kamal Rahmouni, Associate Professor in the Departments of Pharmacology and Internal Medicine in the Carver College of Medicine, and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center and the Obesity Research and Education Initiative at the University of Iowa, has been awarded the American Heart Association (AHA) 2015 Hypertension Mid-Career Award for Research Excellence. The AHA Hypertension Mid-Career Award for Research Excellence recognizes a mid-career investigator working in hypertension or cardiovascular research who has significantly contributed to the understanding of the causes of hypertension and related cardiovascular disease. 

Dr. Rahmouni's research focuses on the identification of the molecular and cellular determinants of glucose metabolism, energy expenditure, and cardiovascular function, as well as, investigating the dysregulation of the cellular and molecular pathways in disease conditions such as obesity and diabetes. The Rahmouni laboratory has helped uncover new molecular mechanisms that are critically involved in the regulation of metabolic and cardiovascular functions.
