Ruth Grossmann, PhD, RN, an Associate in the College of Nursing, was awarded a Research Scientist Development Award by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences for her project “Metabolomic Biomarkers of a Nutritional Intervention to Prevent Weight Gain.” This K01 was one of only six awarded from the NIH Directors Common Fund for Metabolomics. Grossmann will dissect the mechanisms by which nicotinamide riboside improves fat metabolism in animals and early stage human trials. Dr. Grossman is a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Charles Brenner and has been actively involved in the OREI.
