Catherine Olinger, MD, MS, FAAOS

Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation

Introduction

Dr. Catherine Olinger is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Iowa. Dr. Catherine Olinger received her medical school training from Creighton University School of Medicine, residency training from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center Campbell Clinic, and fellowship training from University of Washington Harborview Medical Center. She joined the faculty in September of 2021 and focuses on the care of orthopedic spine disorders. She is fellowship trained in spine surgery with a focus in spine trauma. Her primary role as Clinical Assistant Professor is providing surgical care to patients with spine disorders and educating residents regarding orthopedic spinal pathologies. She is member of the American Academy of Orthopedics, AO Spine, North American Spine Society, Orthopaedic Trauma Association, Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, and the Southern Orthopaedic Association.

  • Dr. Catherine Olinger’s primary focus of research is with biomaterials, growth factors and hardware development at the Bone Healing Research Lab and Iowa Spine Research Lab.
