Megan J. Lundstrom, EdD, LAT, ATC
Introduction
Dr. Megan Lundstrom joined the University of Iowa in 2016 and has over 21 years of experience serving in administrative roles within professional athletic training programs, serving as Program Director for nine years and previously serving as Coordinator of Clinical Education for 12 years. Her experiences in administration and education have occurred at diverse educational institutions ranging from small liberal arts, private institutions, to a large R1 public university. Her professional service includes serving as a CAATE site visitor/peer reviewer since 2003, serving as the secretary of the Minnesota Athletic Trainers’ Association and as a member of the Winter Meeting Planning Committee for GLATA. Clinically, she has provided athletic training services and served as a preceptor for a wide variety of patient populations including pediatrics, an employee clinic, physician practice, and Division I-III athletics. While at Iowa, Dr. Lundstrom successfully transitioned the undergraduate professional AT program from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to the graduate level program in the College of Medicine in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. She earned the 2021 Educator of the Year Award from the Iowa Athletic Trainers’ Society. Her research areas include the theory-practice gap in athletic training education, AT student Grit and admissions processes. She has also written two books on Introduction to General Medical Conditions and Injury Recognition and Prevention for AT students.
