Dr. Kathleen Sluka was awarded a UM1 two-site clinical trial from the National Institutes of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Disorders (NIAMS): "FAST: Fibromyalgia Activity Study with TENS".  This 5-year clinical trial will study the effectiveness of TENS in people with fibromyalgia and is a collaboration between Dr. Sluka at the University of Iowa and Dr. Crofford at Vanderbilt University.  Active TENS will be given to the subjects to use when they are physically active and compared to placebo TENS and a standard care group.  Outcomes will include measures of pain at rest and with movement, fatigue, function and quality of life.  The study will also investigate changes in pain physiology with TENS, and analyze predictors of responders and non-responders to TEN
