James Byrne MD, PhD, assistant professor of radiation oncology in the Carver College of Medicine is the 2024 Early Career Scholar of the Year.

This award honors assistant professors at the University of Iowa who are involved in research, scholarship and/or creative activity and show promise of making a significant contribution to their field. He is one of 11 faculty and staff recognized by the Office of the Vice President for Research as a part of the 2024 Discovery and Innovation Awards.
