Richard Hakes, a H&N cancer patient and Press Citizen freelance columnist featured the thermoplastic masks made for pediatric patients undergoing treatment in our clinic. During the course of his six-week treatment he recounted the love/hate relationship with his mask and featured the team of volunteers and caregivers who help children cope with the stress of cancer therapy.
In particular he praised the team of volunteers, both past and present, who apply their talents decorating the face masks according to the wishes of their young patrons, and the joy that this brings them.
