Darrion Mitchell was one of three residents nationally to be awarded the 2013-2014 ASTRO Resident/Fellow in Radiation Oncology Research Seed Grant award. This very competitive award provides research funds for a years dedicated research into the field of interest submitted to the ASTRO committee. Dr Mitchell’s research hypothesizes that cells in an EMT-like state may be selectively targeted to enhance sensitivity to existing therapy and/or decrease metastatic cell survival.  The study hopes to clarify synergistic treatments and identify new indications for FDA-approved drugs. This would enable rapid translation to the clinic and significantly impact basic and translational discovery in cancer research. Congratulations!
