Michelle Ouyang, MD

Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology-Division of Body Imaging

Current Positions

  • Clinical Assistant Professor - Radiology

Education

  • Fellowship in Abdominal Imaging, University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, Iowa City, Iowa
  • Resident in Diagnostic Radiology, University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, Iowa City, Iowa
  • MD, Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, Michigan
  • BS in Neuroscience, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan

Research Interests

  • University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics Nov ’17 – Jun ‘18 Iowa City, IA − Investigated inter-reader variability in characterizing biopsied PIRADS 3 lesions on prostate MRI and correlations between specific lesion characteristics (ADC/DWI value, size, percent circumscribed, T2 signal) and malignancy. Presented at Senior Resident Research Day. − Conducted a comprehensive review on the topic of tumefactive demyelination that included many cases with pertinent imaging findings and pathologic correlation. Presented at RSNA 2018.
  • Wayne State University Research assistant May ’12 – May ‘13 Laboratory of Sokol V. Todi, Ph.D. Detroit, MI − Pursued a research project through the WSU Medical Alumni Summer Research Grant. The project focused on crossing and managing Drosophila lines, dissecting fly eyes, and performing light microscopy to explore how the deubiquitinating enzyme ataxin-3 protects from neurodegeneration in polyglutamine diseases.
  • University of Michigan Research assistant Sept ’07 – July ‘11 Laboratory of Henry L. Paulson, M.D., Ph.D. Ann Arbor, MI − Assisted with data collection on protein misfolding and aggregation in Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 3 (SCA3). This included a high volume of immunohistochemistry and microscopy work on mouse brain tissue. − Also characterized the behavioral phenotype of the SCA3 mouse model (YAC84.2) by genotyping, behavioral testing with footprinting and rotarod, and organ harvesting at specific timepoints. Research projects also included extensive work with the protein ataxin-3 in vitro through Western Blotting.
